🐲 Dragon & Number Eight – Powerful Chinese Symbolism

In Chinese culture, the dragon is revered as a divine mythical creature symbolising power, strength, wealth, and good fortune.
Equally significant is the number eight, regarded as the luckiest of all numbers — its pronunciation closely associated with wealth and prosperity.

When laid on its side, the number eight resembles the symbol for infinity, reinforcing themes of endless fortune, balance, and harmony. Together, the dragon and the figure-eight form a deeply auspicious union.

🎨 Innovative Figure-Eight Design

Shaped unmistakably like the number 8, the reverse features two dragons entwined, each clutching coins in their claws — a timeless representation of abundance and protection.

The design is completed with The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, while the antiqued finish adds depth and texture, ensuring no two coins are exactly alike.

The obverse displays the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, along with the denomination and 2018 year-date, confirming its status as official Australian legal tender.
