The 2021 Zhao Yun 5oz Silver Coloured Antiqued Coin honours the legendary Chinese military commander Zhao Yun, renowned for his courage, combat skill and unwavering loyalty during the turbulent late Han Dynasty and early Three Kingdoms period
🎨 Design Description
The reverse portrays Zhao Yun astride a warhorse during the Battle of Changban. Facing enemy soldiers while protecting the infant prince Liu Shan within the folds of his tunic, Zhao Yun brandishes an ornate spear, or qiang, highlighted with striking blue and gold colouring.
The Chinese characters 赵云, representing Zhao Yun's name, also appear within the design.
The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, together with the coin's weight, purity, monetary denomination and 2021 year-date.
